A note from the artist: "On Trans Day of Resilience, I honor the Black, Indigenous, POC trans, and nonbinary individuals who grace my life and the broader community. These transcestors, whose lives were unjustly cut short in a world that often denies us dignity, are etched into my being — their strength flowing through my veins and manifesting as fading scars on my new chest. I exhale into truth; I can create, protect, and heal. In remembering our transcestors, I am reminded of my own power."
